How long do surgical scars take to heal?
Most surgical scars continue to mature for 12–18 months or longer. Early weeks focus on incision care and protection; over months, collagen remodeling changes how flat, soft, and faded a scar looks. Scar Protocol is structured in phases so topical support can align with that healing window—not only right after surgery, but through the first year when skin is still actively changing.
How do I prevent keloids and raised scars from surgery?
Ask your surgeon what to watch for if you tend to form keloids. Silicone-based care, tension reduction, and sun protection are often recommended when appropriate.
How do I take care of my scar after surgery?
Keep the area clean and follow your surgeon’s dressing instructions. Once cleared for topical products, use a phased scar system as directed, protect from sun exposure, and avoid picking or stretching the healing tissue.
Should I Massage My Scars?
Only if your surgeon approves it for your procedure and timing. Massage may help some scars during remodeling, but it is not appropriate for every surgery or healing stage.
